Worms: The Secret Heroes of the Garden!
Imagine a tiny superhero living underground. That's right, I'm talking about worms! These wiggly friends are a gardener's best kept secret.
Worms love to munch on all sorts of yummy things like dead leaves, grass clippings, and even fruit and vegetable scraps. When they eat, they turn all this "garden garbage" into something amazing: worm poop!
This special poop, called castings, is like superfood for plants. It's packed with nutrients that help them grow big and strong. Worms also make tunnels in the soil, which helps air and water reach the plant roots.
Want to help your worms?
You can make a special home for them called a worm bin. Just fill a box with layers of shredded paper and garden scraps. Add some worms and watch them work their magic!
So next time you see a worm wriggling in your garden, give it a little thank you. These amazing creatures are hard at work making your plants happy!
Tip: Never put meat, dairy, or oily foods in your worm bin.
